About the Author
A postgraduate from IIT Delhi, Sumathy Krishnan spent more than a decade in the corporate world before moving to the NGO sector in 2010. At that time, the move felt like a leap into the unknown.
But, despite initial misgivings and some challenges, she did not just survive the leap; she thrived. Today, she considers her time in the NGO sector to be the most fulfilling and transformative phase of her career. However, she regrets the lack of useful, accessible information that could have eased her transition into this sector.
Driven by a desire to fill this gap, Sumathy has written this book, providing practical guidance and personal narratives for those considering a career in NGOs or already working in one. Through this book, she intends to break the ‘otherness’ often associated with working in the social sector.
Based in Singapore, Sumathy continues her association with TIDE, the NGO she earlier led in India. She has now broadened her work at the intersection of social impact and sustainability through her venture Sustainpath
