About the Author
H.G. Wells (1866–1946) was an English writer, historian, and social critic whose groundbreaking works shaped the landscape of modern science fiction and beyond. A master of speculative storytelling, Wells is celebrated for timeless classics such as The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The Time Machine, and The Island of Doctor Moreau. His narratives combined scientific imagination with profound social commentary, addressing themes of human nature, technology, and the future of civilization.
Wells was not just a storyteller but also a visionary thinker. Trained as a biologist under the renowned T.H. Huxley, his scientific background informed much of his writing, enabling him to explore the interplay between science and society with remarkable depth. He wrote extensively on political theory, history, and education, authoring influential non-fiction works like The Outline of History, which revolutionized the way history was taught.
A lifelong advocate for social reform, Wells championed ideas of equality, universal education, and global cooperation. His visionary ideas often placed him ahead of his time, sparking debate and inspiring generations of thinkers and writers. From his gripping science fiction to his bold social vision, Wells remains a towering figure in literature whose works continue to captivate and provoke thought across the world.
