All these years, he has eagerly watched the ship carrying letter and other mail dock at the harbour and he still desperately clings to the hope that one day, this ship will bring him good news and his army pension.

About the Author
Gabriel Garcia Marquez was a noted author known for his stories based on magic realism. Born in Colombia, in 1927, he went on to build a career in the field of journalism. He initially studied law at Colombia’s National University, but favoured a writing career. His novels include One Hundred Years of Solitude, Love in the Time of Cholera, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, and many more. His contribution to Latin American literature won him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982.
